It’s only a matter of time before they make it into a movie, but do yourself a favor and actually read “Elliot Allagash”, the debut novel by SNL wunderkind Simon Rich. Then, like me, you can have a bookshelf full of novels that were hip until they were translated to film (I’m looking at you, “I Love You Beth Cooper” and “The Rules of Attraction”).

Ugly Americans at UCB *TONIGHT*:

Tonight at UCB (NY) there’s a standup/sketch showcase featuring cast members from Comedy Central’s new animated series Ugly Americans, of which I’m an Exec Producer. I’ll be presenting some clips with Devin Clark, the series’ Director. Performers include Larry Murphy, Kurt Metzger, Randy Pearlstein, and Matt Oberg.

Just finished the debut novel by writer and comic actor DC Pierson (of “Derrick” fame). It really defies genre so it’s hard to lump it into a category — it’s a sincere coming-of-age story that’s often R-rated, but it also finds time to lump in sci-fi action, satirical commentary on the pharmaceuticals industry, and obscure pop culture commentary. It’s a really enjoyable read (and a quick one), so if you like comedy and good writing, support the author and grab a copy off Amazon.

I also just finished “In Cold Blood” by Truman Capote, and I can say with absolute confidence that DC’s book is funnier.
